Tanning Tips
If you follow the advice below you will have a beautiful tan that will fade naturally with no patches.
Before your tan
• For the best possible results you should shower, exfoliate and moisturise the day before your tan. Pay particular attention to the knees, elbows and ankles.
• Shaving and waxing should be carried out at least 24 hours before the tan to allow the pores time to close.
• On the day of your spray tan please do not apply anything to the skin, including moisturiser, deodorant, make up and perfume. These will act as a barrier to the spray.
• Wear dark loose clothing and flip flops as the colour may rub off on your clothing. (This is just the guide colour and not your tan!) Although it will not stain it is best to keep to dark clothing.
• For your tan a disposable thong will be provided however many clients prefer to wear their own thongs or bikinis. Protective hair nets and sticky feet are also provided.
After your Tan
To ensure long lasting results it is recommended that you:
• Wait at least 6-8 hours before showering to allow the tan to develop.
• Avoid any vigorous exercise or activities which may cause you to sweat during this time.
• Your tan can last anywhere between 4-14 days, depending on your skin type, skincare regime and lifestyle. It will fade as your skin renews itself.
• To help prolong your tan the most important thing to do is moisturise daily and use a mild cleanser/soap on your skin. Showering instead of bathing also helps it last a little longer. Pat yourself dry with a towel – avoid rubbing.
• As your tan starts to fade you may need to exfoliate to keep it even and prevent any patches. You can do this after 4-5 days.
• Avoid swimming pools as chlorine can cause your tan to fade very quickly.
Who should not have a spray tan ?
A spray tan is suitable for everyone except women who are in their first trimester of pregnancy due to hormone levels, anyone who has experienced an allergic reaction to self tan before or anyone who has breathing difficulties.
